In 1985, Carlos Garcia Rios came to the United States from Tijuana, Mexico with big hopes and dreams. Following the footsteps of his older brother, he began his cooking career at one of the busiest restaurants in New York City located at Broadway and 5th Ave, America Restaurant. He worked his way through the kitchen gaining experience in the prep, pantry, grill and sauté stations. With the passion and hunger to enhance his culinary knowledge, Carlos took some basic pastry and baking courses to extend his experience before taking on the challenge of becoming the Executive Sous Chef at small Mexican restaurant. Although his culinary expertise was limited at the time, he utilized the nature of his culture and incorporated his “Mexican roots” into his cooking. A year later he was promoted to a larger restaurant chain known as ARK Management where he opened and ran 4 of their units for 14 years. Carlos joined the Tequila Ranch team in early 2010 and has transformed our menu to authentic Mexican cuisine with true culture and exceptional imported family recipes that age back 100 years. Carlos understands the importance of the flavors and ingredients that make authentic Mexican Food a delicacy and his hand-crafted dishes have added unique and fresh flavors to Tequila Ranch’s dining experience.
